Review: Disgaea 4 (PS3)

Disgaea…the name brings up horror stories from my friends telling me about this series that will eat your soul and steal all your time away from you. I never believed them, thinking they were over exaggerating the extent and vast amounts of battles within the game. Up until a few weeks ago, I never played a Disgaea game. Starting with 4 was a challenge in and of itself to be honest. Weirdly seeing as this is my first Disgaea I did not have much to say about it that is bad, and I truly take this as a rarity and a sign that from an outsider this game series is great and rather accessible. (Well, my PS3 controller taking a swan dive on me was about the only bad thing I can think of about this game.) Read the full story

Virtua Tennis 4 PS3 Trailer

Yesterday we got to see some of the exclusive content coming to the PlayStation 3 version of SEGA’s Virtua Tennis 4. As a note, I better be getting Agassi (I’ll also settle for McEnroe or Sampras) as an exclusive on my 360. Moving on, though, today we get to see gameplay footage of Virtua Tennis 4 as it will appear on the PlayStation 3. Read the full story

Review: Double Dragon (iOS)

When you think of classic beat-em-up style games, Double Dragon has to be high on your list. Double Dragon was one of the early beat-em-up games that made going to the arcade with your friends worth your while. The NES port changed things up a bit, with only one person playing at a time and Jimmy, one half of the Double Dragons, serving as the main villain. As consoles advanced, the game inevitably advanced, allowing more enemies on the screen at once, and bringing co-operative play back. Now, the Double Dragons hit the iPhone. Read the full story

Review: Zumba Fitness (Wii)

Not that long ago Zumba Fitness arrived on our doorstep. I’ve been wanting to get my hands on this game for months but when it came, I was sick so I had to wait until I was ready to get up and shake my moneymaker. After playing the game for about a week, I can tell you one thing: Zumba Fitness is unlike any other dance/exercise game out there.

Review: Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon (Wii)

The first time I ever played Ghost Recon was when it came out for the Nintendo GameCube. That game was an absolute blast, and the controller was perfect. My love for Ghost Recon grew as I got into the Xbox versions, but it still wasn’t quite the same as the one for the GameCube. When I heard that a new Ghost Recon was coming out for the Wii, I was excited but at the same time very worried that it wouldn’t live up to my expectations.

Review: The Amazing Race (iOS)

Recently Ludia and CBS Mobile released The Amazing Race, a game based off of the popular television show of the same name, for iOS devices. We were fortunate to get our hands on the iPhone version, and as a person who has never watched an episode of the TV show, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect.

Bethesda Announces The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

If you had a chance to watch the 2010 Video Game Awards on Spike TV this past Saturday, count yourself slightly fortunate. While the awards show itself was dreadful, there were some fantastic announcements. Obviously, the news of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim falls into that category.

About Marooners’ Rock

Everyone grows up; this is how the world works. Just because we grow decrepit and old, however, does not mean we have to forsake the things that make us happy, childish though they may seem. This is the core concept of Marooners’ Rock; we geek out on the things of our past, present, and future. Society and cultural norms be damned!
