They’re everywhere. Resident Evil 5, Saw 7, and Shock Value 2. When is enough, enough? When will the entertainment industry stop recycling the same things over and over again? As customers, we deserve better.

As a fan of real vampire movies, I can’t even begin to describe how disgusted I am by the Twilight books and films. If you are a fan of either, I’m sorry. Not only do you have poor taste, but I think you need to get some serious psychiatric help. There’s been an on-going debate between fans of Harry Potter and Twilight. Today, I’m here to settle it. There are so many ways in which Harry Potter is superior to Twilight, but rather than beating the issue like a dead horse, I will focus on the important things, like how vampires don’t sparkle. With the Twilight franchise stealing away attention from vampire films (and more notable films in general), it has also popularized vampire film all over the world in a way that has not been experienced in the current generation. When perusing the aisles of movie rental and sale establishments, it is not difficult to come across quickly made vampire movies, thrown together just to fuel the flames of vamp hype. However, every now and then filmmakers choose projects in the vampire pop culture that are important, entertaining, and speak on a variety of different levels. Every once in a while the film industry will let the right one in. Read the full story

Not all stories have happy endings. Once upon a time, so called “spoof” films were intelligent, well-written, relevant, and genuinely funny. Some parody films have become classic films in their own right. Films such as Blazing Saddles, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Naked Gun, and Airplane! have provided phrases that are still quoted to this day, decades after they were released. Blazing Saddles has had me saying “Excuse me while I whip this out” for years, Holy Grail gave me the inimitable joy of “SHE TURNED ME INTO A NEWT! …I got better.”, Naked Gun had a “Nice beaver!”, and Airplane!, well, surely you know at least one line from Airplane!
Of course I do, and don’t call me Shirley.
Then came Scary Movie. Scary Movie was, for the most part, well done. It referenced a handful of similar “thriller” movies, and tied everything together in a very funny way. The legacy Scary Movie has left us, however, is abominable. Scary Movie 3 & 4 were terrible, Not Another Teen Movie, Date Movie, Epic Movie, Meet the Spartans, Superhero Movie, Disaster Movie, Dance Flick, and others like these have been atrocious. Intelligence, wit, relevance, and actual humor were tossed aside in favor of seemingly random pop culture references strung together with only the barest resemblance of a plot. Scary Movie 5 has been announced for 2011, and 2010 will see the release of Vampires Suck, a spoof movie that supposedly focuses on the current vampire trend of films like Twilight. For some reason, this “vampire” movie spends time on Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland, the MTV crapfest known as Jersey Shore, and the (in my opinion) overrated Lady Gaga. These three things are major focal points of the trailer. Why? What does any of that have to do with vampires? Nothing. It’s all filler aimed at capturing as many demographics as possible.
I hate what has happened to this once great genre, and I hate that people continue to fall prey to the shameless money grabs of these movies. Please, stop paying these people to further the death of a genre.

Have you ever witnessed a moment in time that has been so profound that it went on to define your entire life? I have just experienced such a moment. Brace yourselves, people, because this is a big one: The Twlight Eclipse Soundtrack is available to preview in its entirety, today only, for FREE! HOLY FUCK!
At approximately 10:00 am today, the official Twilight Twitter account tweeted the heart-stopping, corpse re-animating news! For 24 hours (starting from 10:00am today, I assume), the entire Twilight Eclipse soundtrack is available online for us to listen to, at no cost whatsoever! As soon as I get home, I’m going to run a nice, soothing bubble-bath, light some candles, start streaming the Twilight Eclipse soundtrack, slip in, close my eyes, and start dreaming about Edward, Jacob, and Bella, triple-teaming the FUCK out of me! I CAN’T WAIT!
Oooooooh, yeah. That’s the stuff.

Browsing around on Youtube, I came across this video that made me laugh so damn hard. It’s from RecklessTortuga, a sketch comedy group from Los Angeles. If you are a fan of either Twilight (gag) or Harry Potter (yay!), be sure to watch this video (it also pretty much solidifies my reasons for NOT wanting to watch Twilight).
For more RecklessTortuga, check them out on Youtube, Facebook, Myspace, and Twitter. If you do check them out on Youtube, I highly suggest you watch their “Psycho Girlfriend” videos. I will be blogging about those sometime this week. Absolutely hilarious!
