It is hard to imagine how a game based on a scantily-clad, half-vampire woman who battles Nazi’s could fail, but somehow, BloodRayne managed to be a fairly mediocre series. When the license was handed over to Uwe “I have a grudge against all gamers” Boll to be mangled and humiliated, it was all but certain that the proverbial wooden stake had been shoved through Rayne’s heart. However, BloodRayne has clawed its way back thanks to Way Forward Technologies. With a new veneer and focus on inventive combat, this 2D, side-scrolling BloodRayne manages to reinvigorate the series and give it a new lease on life. Read the full story

That sound you hear? That is every bit of my rage concentrated into a pure form of energy and being shot out into the universe, vibrating every single molecule in existence. What a horrid sound it is. What, you think this lead in is over dramatic? I don’t!

Is online connectivity really all it’s cracked up to be? In the wake of Sony completely losing their online service for over a week, I just have to ask one potentially-obvious-but-maybe-not question: Do we as gamers really need online? In this modern era of gaming where so much is convenient and instantaneous, is online service a necessity, the future of gaming, a perk that we take for granted or something which, when you get right down to it, is easily disposable?

Because it’s not that I think Adam is completely wrong about everything he said in his article. It’s that I know Adam is completely wrong about everything he said in his article. A great story has the ability to elevate a great game into a great piece of art.

In an announcement that is completely amazing and also completely true, the company that brought us Mario and Link and Rob the Robot and all our other favorite woodland critters has announced that they are updating Captain N. Are you ready for the next generation of video game heroes to star in a horrible television show? Because I certainly am!

Personally, I’m not particularly excited about either of these characters appearing in Marvel vs. Capcom 3, but hey, maybe one of you guys happens to be shit-your-pants excited about it. Tron Bonne was an antagonist in a Mega Man game who developed feelings for Mega Man (or some such crap), and X-23 is a female clone of Wolverine (this makes how many clones/derivatives of Wolverine now?). For awhile now, hacks on classic games have been really popular. Some are downright genius, whereas others are for laughs. Super Mario Bros. Crossover is the latest project by Jay Pavlina, founder of a production company called Exploding Rabbit, and easily falls into the aforementioned genius category. Read the full story
