I spent a good chunk of Friday evening and Saturday playing NeverDead. Sunday morning, I started working up plans with the missus to go play some mini-golf, because California is giving us t-shirt weather in February (suck it, places that have winter). Suddenly, I remember. “OH SHIT! PODCAST!” An email goes out to Adam, and we are shortly ready and prepared to knock out episode 15 of Marooners’ Talk. “Final Fantasy Sequels Are Just Weird” was titled spontaneously while in the episode because we forgot to come up with a title before the recording started. So another week, another episode! Looks like we’re making good on the weekly return so far. Today’s episode of Marooners’ Talk, titled “Something About Used Games and Online Passes,” spends a considerable amount of time talking about the backwards compatibility choices of the Xbox 360 in regard to one title in particular: Barbie Horse Adventures. Er…sorry, that was the pre-podcast discussion, my mistake. Episode 014 focuses on used games and online passes, which was instigated by the Microsoft rumors and Kingdoms of Amalur pass. I know I probably said this in the last episode (This is Episode 12), as well, but this time I mean it: Marooners’ Talk is returning to a weekly format! WOOO! FANFARE AND APPLAUSE! Today’s episode of Marooners’ Talk, titled “The One Where We Talk About Some Games…And Shit” (so titled because I forgot to think of a title prior to recording) marks episode 13 of our on-again/off-again series, and marks the first episode of a (hopefully) consistent string of weekly recordings. We’re a few days shy of five months since our last episode went live. With my consistent co-host ABANDONING ME, the podcast entered a kind of de facto hiatus. Helping bring us back this week are Chris G and Vinny, who have a lot to say about Skyrim and Saints Row: The Third. Having said all that, I now present to you episode 12 of Marooners’ Talk, quite appropriately titled “This is Episode 12.” Read the full story

This is our second attempt at Episode 011. The first attempt was recorded over a week ago, covering mainly post-E3 jibber-jabber. Unfortunately, due to technical issues (of a similar nature to the technical issues you will notice in this episode, but to a far higher level), our first recording of Episode 011 had to be scrapped. Now, Marooners’ Talk returns with a new Episode 011, titled “Get Off My Lawn You Damn Noobs!” Read the full story

“Dammit, Vinny!”, which is Episode 009 of Marooners’ Talk, was referenced as Episode 010 multiple times within the episode. Why did we reference it as 010? Well, because it has been almost three months since our last podcast, and I forgot we had only gone up to 008 in our numbering. So, you know…shut up. Anyway, “Dammit, Vinny!” features a couple of guests while at E3: Thom Clancy and the titular Vinny Luongo, who host the Geeks Anonymous live podcast plugged in the episode. Read the full story

Together in a four-part harmony of excellence we tackle the issues that matter! Read the full story

Why, indeed? Episode 007 of the critically acclaimed (not really) Marooners’ Talk podcast, titled “GIR! Why was there bacon in the soap?!” is done and ready for your listening pleasure! This episode again features the dulcet tones of Chris and Lindsey only, since none of our writers like us enough to chat with us about cool stuff for an hour (insert sad face so sad that a simple emoticon could not hope to convey the truly Homeric sadness felt at this abandonment here). UPDATE: Due to an unforeseen technical difficulty, the deadline for the Marvel vs. Capcom 3/Marvel Digital Comics contest is pushed back until 11:59 PM PST on Wednesday, March 9th giving you all time to get your submissions in. Also, we realize that the phrase might be a little more obscure than originally intended so here is a hint: read the Wikipedia page for X-Men’s Wolverine to help you out.
The armadillo’s shell is vociferous. The marmoset juggles the coconuts. The hippopotamus pirouettes gracefully. The strange man enjoys creating strange code phrases. Episode 006 of Marooners’ Talk, titled “The Badger Flies at Midnight…”, is now online for your listening pleasure. We do something different this week and include a key-phrase related to Wolverine, the Marvel Comics character. What do you do with this key-phrase? You email us at contests@maroonersrock.com with a subject of “MvC 3″ and the key-phrase in the body before 11:59pm PST, Monday, March 7th. Why should you bother? Well, one lucky random winner will receive a (slightly-opened and used) copy of the normal Xbox 360 version of Marvel vs. Capcom 3, and one lucky random winner will win a redemption code for one free month of full access to Marvel’s online digital comic database. Sweet! Read the full story
