Mad Libs!

A couple of weeks ago we announced that we would be sharing some of the ridiculous Mad Libs that we do together in bed before we go to sleep. Today, I bring you some more. As always, I will post the ones I asked Chris to fill in, and he will post the ones where I provided the answers. I’ll be nice and issue a disclaimer again: loads of penis references, bizarre stuff, and I can assure you that neither of us suffer from any mental/psychological disorders.

First one is titled Horror Movies:

Here is a list of the most large horror buildings ever made in Hollywood. Each of these rusty films received a rating of two nipples-up from Siskel and Ebert. 1. The Hunch Ass of Notre Concrete 2. The Weed of the Living Sun 3. The Banana of Frankenstein 4. The Invasion of the Peanut Butter Snatchers 5. The Desk from the Gargantuan Lagoon 6. I was a Teenage Were-Car 7. The Shower of the Opera.

Next is titled Four Sure Signs:

Now let us discuss the bouncy traits of four more zodiac toes. Aries (March 21-April 19) are very sleepy lovers. If you flatter their eyes or tell them they have a splendid floor, they are capable of deep affection. Although they are generous and grumpy, don’t challenge them or you will wind up behind the fluffy ball. People born under the sign of Taurus (April 20-May20) are calm, honest, frank, and giant. They are dopey thinkers. Their asses are fondly planted on the ceiling. Geminis (May 21-June21) have frumpy brains and are interested in scientific walls. While very romantic and tiny, they are also practical and juicy. Their main goal in life is to make a great deal of bushes. Those born under the sign of Cancer (June 22-July22) have intense stars and often have enormous cats. They have uncontrollable dogs and can fly off the penis at the drop of a nose.

The final one is titled Another Close Encounter:

I wanted to tell you about a soft experience I had yesterday. I was walking down a path which leads from my house, when three kitties from Outer Space came out from behind the mail box. I couldn’t believe my boobs. My heart stopped. I wanted to scream at the top of my elbows but I couldn’t because I had lost my safe. I was very close to wanking when one of the creatures fiercely held out his trunk and shook my chest. These were friendly, but strange looking, balls. The one who was puce had a gigantic Skag on his head and had four robes sticking out of his bandit. I wonder if all this was a figment of my Spiderant.

Facebook Fan Page!

Finally a Facebook Fan Page has been created for World of Meh! I know it’s a little long overdue, but in all honesty we haven’t been doing much with the site. Since we are now giving it another go, why not create a Fan Page?

We’ve said time and time again how we want to create a community, and this is just another step closer to that goal. So, if you have a Facebook, and if you like our site enough to give us a nifty thumbs up, please add us! Be sure to spread the word to your friends too. We love meeting new people!

All Better!

So last week I made a post about me being sick. I am happy to announce that whatever germs decided to inhabit my body last week have been eradicated, and I can actually breathe!

I hate being sick, and I don’t know what happened, but I was down for almost all of last week. It happened at a bad time too since I had to worry about my daughters birthday party, which happened on Saturday. Fortunately I felt better the day before, and the party went off perfectly. What boggles my mind is that Chris didn’t get sick at all! I rarely go out of the house, so Chris is exposed to more germs on a daily basis than I am in an entire week. One theory was that I got it from the Iron Man 2 midnight premiere we went to. The other theory is that my immune system secretly hates me and has it out for me.

Either way, I have slept better the past couple of nights, I can breathe properly, I’m not waking up in the middle of the night coughing, and I haven’t been that nauseated! Huzzah! Buh-bye Germies!

Great Moogly Googly!

For awhile now,  Chris and I have been talking about getting a cat. We both grew up having cats and dogs as pets, so having a kitten around would be great.

About a week and a half ago, we met up with some friends at Sonic when they were having their Free Root Beer Float night. One of the guys who met up with us, @DanielDanger on Twitter, was talking about his two kittens. We had seen pictures and video of them before and thought they were just too cute. Turns out, the person he got them from still had a kitten left. When we found out that the kitten would be free, we immediately said we wanted her but it would take some time due to us moving stuff around in the apartment to accomodate a kitten and other stuff.

On Saturday (two days ago), we went and picked up our little girl and named her Moogle. She is a tabby and tabbies typically have an “M” in their fur on their foreheads so Chris and I started to brainstorm for names that started with “M.” I Googled for popular cat names and came across a site that had a huge list for each letter of the alphabet. While scrolling through the “M” category, I saw Moogle. I am a HUGE Final Fantasy fan and have always loved the Moogles and Mog. I ran it by Chris and he thought it was cute so the name stuck. We seriously picked out a name for the cat before even getting her!

When we picked her up, the people were so nice that they gave us her litter box (that was cleaned out btw), the rest of the litter, the scooper, and her blanket. Chris and I were blown away by the generosity because we were planning on going to PetSmart right afterwards and purchasing that stuff. We did end up going to PetSmart anyways because we had to get her food, some toys, and food/water bowls. We had a lot of fun with her there and she did so well in the car. We got home scratch free!

Upon introducing her to Donnie, Moogle was a little iffy. She would puff up and hiss at Donnie, while Donnie was so excited and wanted to play with her. Later on that evening, with Donnie on my lap, Moogle came up onto the couch, walked up to Donnie, and just smacked him right in the face. Chris and I laughed about it, but Donnie was obviously stunned, and we did our best to tell Moogle (who doesn’t understand a word we say) that what she did was wrong.

That night we slept with Moogle in our bed. I was only woken up once when she got on my night stand, and she purrs so loud! We couldn’t believe it! We were also so thrilled that she knew where her litter box was, because I didn’t want to wake up and see kitty poo all on the carpet. On Sunday, Moogle was getting used to being inside and getting used to being around Donnie. Donnie, however, wanted nothing to do with her. His excitement about having a little buddy quickly changed to him being afraid of her. Whenever she would get on the couch, Donnie would move away and not even look in her direction. He was basically being a stuck up diva.

Today is different. The two of them are getting used to each other, and they even played around a little bit. I know the change will be difficult for Donnie because he has been the baby for so long and he will probably get jealous. It will just take some time. Hopefully he doesn’t become a little brat.

So now… I give you to – Moogle!!!

Wii Love You

For the past few days, I’ve been feeling an urge to get back and play Wii Fit. It’s been awhile and I’m normally a really lazy person so I don’t know why I felt like sweating, being sore, and making an ass out of myself.

I was going to play it back on Tuesday, but Chris came home from work early so I didn’t bother with it. Today, however, was a different story.

As the day dragged on, I got bored. I turned on the Wii, played about a half hour of Animal Crossing (in which our town is ravaged with weeds and looks like crap), and then popped in Wii Fit. I was laughing to myself about how I was stupid for doing this and how I wouldn’t be able to walk in the morning, like last time, but I ignored that and turned it on anyways.

After selecting my Mii the little Wii Fit Board character lovingly let me know that it had been 116 days since I had logged in, and how I failed to reach my goal. I can’t even remember what my goal was!

116 days….

(obviously you guys/gals can tell that we are truly getting our moneys worth with this game, hah!)

I then decided to go through the test they have to check my balance and check my weight. I was pleasantly surprised to see that I had lost weight instead of gaining, like I had thought. Even though it was only 4 lbs, it’s still something! My balance was good, I messed up a little bit, and my Wii Fit Age went up by a couple of years but I didn’t care.

While playing it, I made sure to avoid the Lunges because the only time I did them, I got light headed and wanted to vomit. Instead I focused on the Balance and Aerobic sections. I unlocked a few games in the Balance category, one in the Strength, and one in the Yoga. My new favorite one for the Balance is where my Mii is in a bubble, like in Super Monkey Ball, and I control the ball down this river by leaning left, right, front, and back. It was so fun that I did it 3 times in a row! I was also shocked at how difficult the Advanced Step routine was compared to the original one. Kicks were added, and you even had to step on the board sideways! I’m shocked that I didn’t trip over my feet or trip over Donnie, who was running all over the place with his prized Squirly.

After playing for about an hour I knew I was done. I was starting to get sore and my back, which is horrible, started to hurt. Odds are, when I wake up tomorrow morning, I am going to hate myself for doing Wii Fit but hopefully I can get in the habit of doing at least a half hour a day.

I just wish that Nintendo came out with an update where you can play with your friends using the Wii Speak. No cameras, because that could be embarrassing, but on the “step” balance game, the running aerobic one, and on a few others you can easily do them with a friend and converse with them. It might make people want to play more because, like in real life, a buddy system is always successful.

I’ll let you guys know tomorrow if I have to hobble around the apartment like a 80 year old.

I’m Back!

Yes, like the title of this blog states, I am back. I apologize for being away from our blogsite for so long but I really needed the break.

I’ve been dealing with some pretty difficult things in my life and honestly couldn’t think of anything interesting to write about. I had no problem doing the MehCast and talking about certain topics, but creating an actual blog seemed like a great feat to me and I just couldn’t deal with it on top of everything else.

That being said, I will do my best to make up for the time I’ve been away because I love our blog, I love our readers, and I want to create something special for everybody.

It feels great to be back so be sure to check back often for some amazing blogs!

E3… oh beautiful E3

Back in 2002 I attended the wonderful Electronic Entertainment Expo, better known as E3. It was everything I could have imagined, and more. There was so much going on that I thought I would succumb to sensory overload. Game demos everywhere, lights and neon that made you think you were at Times Square or the Vegas Strip, and people! Oh it was a sea of nerds, and it was beautiful!

I went all 3 days of that convention and my legs were so tired. The trick is to go around to each booth the first day and pillage for goodies. E3 is notorious for giving good swag. I came away with Link and Samus pins for my lanyards, game demos, a huge Sony bag, and a bunch of other stuff.

I was given a job offer from Sega (that couldn’t be accepted for personal reasons… and yeah, that was my dream job btw), and I even got the chance to attend the Sony After Party. There I met Hideo Kojima. For those of you who don’t know who that is, he is the Vice President of Konami and also the creator of Metal Gear Solid. It was such an honor to meet him and I had no idea what to talk about! I did tell him how I laughed at the part in Metal Gear 2 when you can knock on the inside of a locker door where a poster of a bikini girl hangs. When you do that, you hear a “boing!” sound as the fist hits the boob. So funny! Hideo always puts little details like that in every game of his and I think it’s fantastic. I even asked him about the Metal Gear that would be released after that and all he told me was that “there will be a Snake” in it. I can’t tell you how many hours my brain wrestled around with that comment.

What I really found cool was that Kojima-san and his friends all wanted to take pictures with me. I know that a lot of it had to deal with the fact that I am a blonde haired, blue eyed American girl who spoke Japanese but still, it was flattering. Then the icing on the cake happened when Kojima-san asked for my business card. Of course I didn’t have one so I apoligized but he gave me his! There I am, this regular person getting this incredible mans business card! I immediately thanked him for it and told him that one day I hope I get the chance to work with him because it would be an honor and a dream come true. It really would be.

I have yet to call him and it’s been almost 7 years. First off I have no idea what I would say, secondly it would probably be expensive as hell to call Japan. His business card did include his email and I have yet to do that either. I have no idea what to say! Really, what does one say when they are emailing a person such as him?

Lately I’ve thought about it though. Emailing him and saying sorry that it’s taken so long, and to help jog his memory I would attach one of the pictures that was taken but I don’t know. It could be pretty awesome or I could fail…miserably. If I do email him you guys and gals will be the first to know about it!

Here are some of the pictures taken from that Sony After Party, and yeah… my hair was bleached. Oh, you can obviously tell how excited I am by my enormous smile.

Me with the guys from Japan

From L to R: Some guy who worked on Street Fighter and Suikoden, me, Akira Yamaoka of Silent Hill fame and a Konami employee. Bottom: I have no idea.

Hideo Kojima, Takayoshi Sato, and I

From L to R: Hideo Kojima VP of Konami and creator of Metal Gear Solid, me, Takayoshi Sato who is another Konami employee

Hideo Kojima, Akira Yamaoka and I

From L to R: Hideo Kojima, me, Akira Yamaoka of Silent Hill fame and Konami employee

Hope you all enjoyed the pictures even though I look totally different and way beyond excited but if you were there you would probably be that excited too. I did talk with Takayoshi Sato for a few months after E3 and we kept trying to schedule time to get together for lunch but that never happened. And for those of you who are unfamiliar with Akira Yamaoka he did the sound for all of the Silent Hill games, was the main guy behind the 3rd game in the series, and he also worked on the movie adaptation. He was a really nice guy and I have his business card somewhere too.

I would scan them for you guys but I don’t think they would appreciate me giving out their information on the internet like that. Sorry!!

Hopefully I can get into E3 this year. I might make more posts that are tech and video game oriented just because I would want to prove that this blog can qualify for a press pass or something of that nature. Who knows, I might have more pictures this June! Wish me luck!

I am full of WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On December 23rd of last year (2008 to be exact) I entered myself in to a sweepstakes on www.theknot.com. For those of you who don’t know what The Knot is, it’s a wedding website and filled with girly stuff. I created an account there ages ago and hardly use it but since Chris and I are the ones paying for our wedding I have been on the internet searching for wedding related sweepstakes/contests.

Anyways, I have bad luck when it comes to these things and know that the odds of me winning are slim to none however today I woke up to a treat.

When I got up I thought today was going to suck. I almost fell on the way to the bathroom due to me being half asleep,  accidentally dropped my Sidekick on the tile floor in the bathroom, and then I almost fell into the shower/tub while trying to sit on the porcelian god.

After that fun I went to my PC and checked my email. I noticed something strange in my inbox with the subject mentioning my entry to the contest. When I opened it I seriously thought I had to check my eyes – I had won!

I am the Grand Prize Winner of their Dreams Remember the Resort Game & Sweepstakes and I couldn’t be happier. A guest (which is obviously Chris) and myself get a free 3 night stay at any of the new Dreams Resorts & Spas. We even get to choose which one we want to stay at. Three of the five are located in various spots of Mexico while the other two are in the Dominican Republic.

Right now I am leaning towards the Dreams Huatulco Resort because it is close to a jungle and a coral reef. It feels so odd even mentioning something like that because I never honestly thought I would be able to afford a trip like this anything soon. Since Chris and I are footing the bill one of the things we knew we couldn’t afford would be a Honeymoon so we were just going to go somewhere for a few days, come back for Christmas, and then go to another place in January 2010. Vegas came to mind since we could say that we visited the Pyramids, Paris, Camelot, New York, and other locations. Vegas, if done right, can be pretty affordable and that is very appealing to us.

All I have to do is print out the affidavit of eligibility/liability that also is a publicity release since they will advertise on their website that I am the winner and all that jazz. I might even be in their magazine! I am so excited I think I might explode!

You can check out their resorts and know more about the company at: http://www.dreamsresorts.com

I just had to share this with you all and will keep you updated as the days go along!

About Marooners’ Rock

Everyone grows up; this is how the world works. Just because we grow decrepit and old, however, does not mean we have to forsake the things that make us happy, childish though they may seem. This is the core concept of Marooners’ Rock; we geek out on the things of our past, present, and future. Society and cultural norms be damned!

For more detail, please see our About page.
