I spent a good chunk of Friday evening and Saturday playing NeverDead. Sunday morning, I started working up plans with the missus to go play some mini-golf, because California is giving us t-shirt weather in February (suck it, places that have winter). Suddenly, I remember. “OH SHIT! PODCAST!” An email goes out to Adam, and we are shortly ready and prepared to knock out episode 15 of Marooners’ Talk. “Final Fantasy Sequels Are Just Weird” was titled spontaneously while in the episode because we forgot to come up with a title before the recording started. Earlier this week Kotaku reported on as of yet unconfirmed rumors that the next Xbox console will lock-out used games. For many, this seemed like a dramatic and, ultimately, unfair gesture that will hamper many people’s enthusiasm and support for the next generation. Read the full story

We may have mentioned Duke Nukem Forever at one time or another here at Marooners’ Rock. It is a game we are very much looking forward to, even more so now that a special edition release (and you know we love special editions) has been announced for Xbox 360, PS3, and PC to coincide with the game’s launch, May 3rd. In keeping with Duke Nukem’s style and pinache, the special edition will be known as the Balls of Steel edition. With a $100 price tag, the Balls of Steel edition will be available in North America only, and only from Amazon or GameStop. Read the full story

As a fan of Assassin’s Creed, I can’t believe that I had no idea that a comic was coming out. I guess it’s partially due to the fact that I’m waiting impatiently for AC: Brotherhood to come out on November 16th. However, 6 days before that on the 10th, fans of the games can sink their teeth into the first of a new three issue series that takes place in in Russia.

The Persian side of my family has always been deeply into Tennis and Soccer (football, if you’re not American). When I would visit as a kid, the summer would be full of watching one particular player: Andre Agassi. In the late 80s/early 90s, even if you didn’t care about tennis, you knew who Andre Agassi was just by seeing his long blonde hair(piece). He was the man. And now, with the release of Top Spin 4 from 2K Sports (part of 2K Games), The Man, with his totally radical hair(piece), returns. Read the full story

For years I’ve been a Sonic fan. It all started when I just had to get a Sega Genesis to play the original Sonic the Hedgehog. Then when Sonic 2 game out, I had to get that as well. Unfortunately, for some franchises there are bumps in the road, and sometimes that leads to our childhood memories becoming tarnished. Read the full story
