I started playing Assassin’s Creed Revelations with the plan to spend a good 10-15 minutes once I arrived in Constantinople free running around, familiarizing myself with the city, and refamiliarizing myself with the mechanics so that I could be sure that I kept my motion fluid and that I knew where my escape routes were. George Takei’s signature “Oh Myyyyy…” suddenly burst forth from my phone, heralding a text message, and I realized that my 10-15 minute plan had turned into a three hour spree of guard killing and free roaming. Whoops. Read the full story

Prey 2 is not Prey. It became clear at the Bethesda E3 Prey 2 screening that the portal and gravity mechanics that made up most of the core gameplay of Prey were not returning for the sequel. Instead, we’re given an open world, mission based sandbox shooter. In this spiritual sequel, you are no longer the hunted, like you were in Prey. Prey 2 presents a more empowered character, putting you in the role of the hunter. Read the full story

Ever since I played the first Assassin’s Creed, I’ve wanted to be as badass as Altaïr or Ezio. I want the outfit (preferably Altaïr’s), I want the hidden blade (you all have no idea how handy that would be), and I would love to be able to scale buildings with ease and hop around from place to place. Sadly, I am a 28 year old female with no awesome costume, no awesome hidden blade bracer, and a fear of heights. The other morning a glorious idea came to me while laying in bed with Chris, and it needs to become reality…

As a fan of Assassin’s Creed, I can’t believe that I had no idea that a comic was coming out. I guess it’s partially due to the fact that I’m waiting impatiently for AC: Brotherhood to come out on November 16th. However, 6 days before that on the 10th, fans of the games can sink their teeth into the first of a new three issue series that takes place in in Russia.

Back when Chris and I went to rent LEGO Harry Potter, the guy at Blockbuster told us about some used games he had behind the counter. All were for Xbox 360, and the prices were fantastic!

The games, which were all $6.99, came in a generic semi-frosted clear case, but no box art, and no booklet. At first, it seemed like all titles were various sports games, but then Assassins Creed II and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed appeared. CHA-CHING! We asked to look at both discs, and they were perfect. Not a scratch on them, and they weren’t refurbished. Instead of spending a little over $60.00 retail on both games brand new, we were able to get them for a few cents over $15.00 – all because they didn’t come with box art and a booklet.

Knowing about this fantastic deal, Chris started to hit up other local Blockbuster store locations on his way home from work, and we got the first Assassins Creed and BioShock for $6.99. Four great Xbox 360 games for less than $30.50 after tax. What a damn bargain! During one of his excursions, Chris game across Splinter Cell: Conviction, but it was priced $34.99 because it came with the booklet. Massive price jump all because of a booklet? Completely ridiculous, so we’ll have to wait on Sam Fisher.

Last week, Chris found a website where gamers who are big into design created mock box art, shockingly similar to the final retail product, so at work he printed out covers for Assassins Creed II and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. Bargain, bargain, bargain!!!

So, are you low on funds, but want some good titles? Check out your local Blockbuster because not only do they have these great deals on 360 games, but they also had PS3 and Wii games to choose from. We aren’t too sure about the pricing for them, but it will still be significantly less than retail!
Happy hunting!
