Episode 17 Recap

One day before Episode 18 hits, and the Episode 17 recap is going up!  Talk about time management, folks!

Episode 17 was over 3 hours (we had a lot of time to make up from missing the previous week!), and it was a lot of fun.  We had a lot to talk about.  We discussed potentially moving the show from UStream.TV to Justin.TV because of the number of users being so much larger on Justin.TV.  Please send us your feedback on that issue.

We doubled up our “of the week” items to make up for the missing week:

Song of the Week (Chris): Offspring – Session / Youthinasia – Stolen
Song of the Week (Lindsey): Cherry Waves – Deftones / Still Running – Chevelle

TV Show of the Week (Chris): Spaced, The Big Bang Theory
TV Show of the Week (Lindsey): Chelsea Lately / Unwrapped
Movie of the Week (Chris): Rounders, Swingers
Movie of the Week (Linsey): Leon: The Professional / Full Metal Jacket
iPhone App of the Week (Chris): WordPress, Muddled
iPhone App of the Week (Lindsey): Buzzer / Trace
Video Game of the Week (Chris): Sega Dreamcast – Virtua Tennis, Crazy Taxi
Video Game of the Week (Lindsey): Altered Beast (Genesis) / DOOM 3 (XBox)
See you guys tomorrow for Episode 18!

Year 1 Episode 16 Recap

Episode 16 has come and gone, and with it another week in our lives.  It’s odd to think that we’ve been doing this for sixteen straight weeks.  Episode 16 was a standard episode, discussing the week’s topics, and whatever movies, tv shows, etc that we had watched or wanted to watch.  We put together another weekly list of suggestions:

Song of the Week (Chris): Refused – Summerholidays vs. Punkroutine

Song of the Week (Lindsey): Alien Ant Farm – Movies

TV Show of the Week (Chris): Bully Beatdown

TV Show of the Week (Lindsey): Days of Our Lives

Movie of the Week (Chris): The Prestige

Movie of the Week (Linsey): Beauty Shop

iPhone App of the Week (Chris): Stanza

iPhone App of the Week (Lindsey): Pandora

Video Game of the Week (Chris): Super Mario Galaxy

Video Game of the Week (Lindsey): Ghost Recon

Feel free to watch our old episodes at http://www.ustream.tv/channel/world-of-meh/!

Year 1 Episode 15 Recap

Coming into our 15th episode (holy cow, that went quickly), we were a bit rushed.  We had taken a nap, and woke up with just enough time to start doing our show notes and get our equipment set up.  We were still working on the tail end of our show notes as we started the show!  We had a great time with this episode.  After having lighter content episodes for the past few weeks, resulting in shorter shows, we returned to form with over two and a half hours of us chatting about stuff that nobody cares about!  We had some new viewers, which we were, of course, very glad to have.  One viewer even came all the way from Spain (and only spoke Spanish).  This resulted in a fairly large derailment of the show, as Lindsey and I tried to remember our high school Spanish classes and some of our viewers tried translating through Babelfish!

One of these days, we’ll go back and try to recover our older show notes (if we kept them) and put up a new section containing them all for people to peruse (if people even give a crap about that kind of thing).  We’ll probably have to watch some of our own episodes and take notes, which should be a blast.  You know what?  How about this: If anyone reads this, let us know what you think about the show notes idea.  We’ll take our little audience poll and let that decide!

Year 1 Episode 14 Recap

Right before our show tonight Chris and I got instantly aggrivated courtesy of our dog, Donnie. Chris had taken him outside to use the restroom prior to the show and apparently Donnie thought it would be cool to go behind the couch and piss on the carpet.

After putting Donnie in his kennel, and after trying my best to get it up and out of the carpet, we started the show.

We discussed our wedding in more detail, how Chris and I are looking around for a new car, and more.

Chris’s song of the week was from Propaghandi while mine was from A Perfect Circle.

As a joke, Chris picked Dragon Ball Z as his movie of the week. I chose Wedding Crashers.

My video game of the week was Battle of Olympus for the NES. It was the first game I had ever played and owned. Chris chose Mad World for the Wii.

I was stupid and picked Heroes again for my TV show of the week, and Chris picked Chopped that airs on the Food Network.

My iPhone App of the week was DoodleKids that can be found in the Apple App Store. Chris chose Scrobble which can be found in Cydia.

Hope you guys enjoyed the episode and we will be seeing you next week for Episode 15!!

Year 1 Episode 13 Recap

This one is a few days late also, but we have our excuses!  Episode 13 was fairly short, as the past few episodes seem to also have been,  unfortunately.  We had a few topics to discuss, as usual, and went over our usual “…of the Week” items.  The interesting stuff started happening after the show ended!  Details will be up today or tomorrow!

Year 1 Episode 12 Recap

This is VERY late in coming, and because of that, I have no idea what we talked about in Episode 12!  I remember only a few things.  Our show was rescheduled from our regular Friday night time to Sunday afternoon, because Lindsey and I went out of town for a conference.  We did our basic weekly random topics, as well as one or two more serious topics.  We also mentioned my bare-chested Starbucks run in Los Banos, California.  Watch the episode for more!

MehCast Update!

Hello, World of Meh!  As has been mentioned on Twitter, Episode 10, and on the Episode 10 recap, Episode 11, originally scheduled for Friday, March 20, 2009, has been rescheduled to Sunday, March 22, 2009 at 2:00pm Pacific Standard Time (5:00pm Eastern Standard Time).  We don’t like to do this, but we had a scheduling conflict that could not be solved.  We will be out of town, and Lindsey will be in a conference from 7:00pm to 10:00pm on Friday night, making a live broadcast at that time impossible (and incredibly boring, as it would only be me.  Who wants to see that crap?).

The MehCast still broadcasts from http://www.ustream.tv/channel/world-of-meh/, and Episode 11 will start broadcasting at 2:00pm this upcoming Sunday.

Sorry for the inconvenience.  Hopefully everyone can still make it!

Year 1 Episode 11 Recap

Episode 11 is done and gone!  We were worried at the start of the show because we had absolutely no viewers!  However, as we soldiered on, our awesome viewers started popping in.

We had a short show, clocking in at well under two hours, which was actually kind of strange.  We had a full week to talk about, and a prepared list of show notes, but were only able to jibber-jabber for a little over an hour and a half.  Length aside, though, we feel it was a good show.  We discussed our visit with The Married Gamers and our feature spot on episode 90 of their weekly podcast, as well as our need to reschedule our upcoming Episode 12!  We will be out of town Friday and Saturday, and will be unable to broadcast at our regular time.  We’ve scheduled Episode 12 to take place on Sunday, March 22, at 2:00pm PST (5:00pm EST).

Other than that, we had a variety of topics ranging from movie news to gaming news to irrelevant news.  You know, the usual.

Thanks for watching, and we’ll see you guys on Sunday!

Year 1 Episode 10 Recap

Episode 10 was almost exclusively focused on our experience with the Watchmen movie midnight premiere the previous night.  There was brief discussion of other topics, but the main topic was Watchmen.  We had planned on a short episode before heading out to see Watchmen again, but were so exhausted that we didn’t make it out.  Given that, the show is a bit shorter than usual, because we had prepared no other topics!

Year 1 Episode 9 Recap

Hello everybody,

Sorry this blog is coming so late in the day but today has been rather interesting and I will be making a separate blog about that. Last night was our ninth episode and all I can say is wow. 9 episodes.

We started by showing off our new webcam we purchased this past week. We no longer have to bring in lamps from different rooms but the big downside is that for some reason it looks like it’s further back yet it is in the same location we used with the old one. While this does give a bigger picture of our living room and our bookshelves filled with DVD’s, you no longer get the close-ups of us and that sort of bothers us. Oh well.

Another new feature to the show was our dog, Donnie. He just came over with us this past Tuesday and he spent most of the time curled up on the couch next to me since he is a Mama’s Boy.

Throughout the show we discussed what we have been doing this past week, introduced a new show segment featuring strange news from around the world, did a Heroes recap and even shared some spoilers, and discussed movie news. We even mentioned that our tickets for the Watchmen midnight premiere have been purchased. Hopefully we enjoy it and it doesn’t become another shitty comic book movie. That would be most unfortunate.

What I couldn’t believe was that the show lasted 3 hours long, we didn’t run out of topics to discuss, and we had many live viewers! At one time we had 14 and the chat room was very interactive which was fantastic.

As for next week, I can’t guarantee that we will have a long broadcast. Even though Chris and I will be attending the Watchmen midnight premiere I neglected to purchase the tickets for the IMAX showing of it so we will probably be watching it later on that evening. Odds are most of our viewers will be out as well. I can say that we will still aim to give a minimum of an hour but don’t hold me to it!

One last thing we did was introduce a new weekly thing we are going to be doing. We are going to ask our viewers a question during each show and they will (hopefully) submit to us their answers. On the following show we will read the answers live and then go from there.

The question we chose for this week was: What additional features would you like to see added to World of Meh? This can include the blogsite, the show itself, and even our new forums.

You can either submit your replies over our Myspaces, through a comment on this blog, to our emails, or on the forums.

My email is: lindsey@worldofmeh.com and you can reach Chris at chris@worldofmeh.com  (original, eh?)

Well, thanks again for a great show and we will be seeing you all live this next Friday!

About Marooners’ Rock

Everyone grows up; this is how the world works. Just because we grow decrepit and old, however, does not mean we have to forsake the things that make us happy, childish though they may seem. This is the core concept of Marooners’ Rock; we geek out on the things of our past, present, and future. Society and cultural norms be damned!

For more detail, please see our About page.
