It’s been over two and a half years since Capcom graced us with Resident Evil 5 (although some fans will disagree with it being a grace), and I believe it’s about time for some new information. Unfortunately, Capcom doesn’t exactly feel the same way, and all information regarding the sixth installment in the long running survival horror series has been shrouded in a heavy blanket of mystery. I’ve decided to go ahead and compile all (that I’m aware of) of the rumors, facts, and lies regarding the upcoming game in this one article. Hopefully, we will soon have more tangible facts instead of speculation. Read the full story

When Resident Evil first came out, it introduced millions of gamers to the survival horror genre it solidified and defined. It also helped make zombies the oversaturated theme it is today. Well over a decade later, the franchise is still going strong with dozens of games across multiple gaming platforms. Resident Evil CODE: Veronica X recently made its debut on PSN and XBLA, but it originated on the underappreciated SEGA Dreamcast as Resident Evil CODE: Veronica. Due to adding the “X” to the end when re-released on the PlayStation 2, it rose to new levels of success and fame before making its way to the Gamecube as a rare port, and a must-have for fans. So, now that it’s made its way to another console, how does it stack up to its predecessors? Read the full story

It’s no secret that gamers are ruled by nostalgia. Each time we pick up the controller we’re trying to recreate that incredible first time when everything was new and exciting. Like the drug addict, we keep trying, but we always refer back to what came before. With such a passion for the classics, the recent deluge of “High Definition” remakes is hardly surprising, and since Resident Evil 4 seems to be the most platform-hopping port to date, it was only a matter of time before an HD remake finally hit the PS3 and 360. The 6 year old GameCube title is certainly showing its age, but it still remains one of the definitive survival horror games on any system. Read the full story

That sound you hear? That is every bit of my rage concentrated into a pure form of energy and being shot out into the universe, vibrating every single molecule in existence. What a horrid sound it is. What, you think this lead in is over dramatic? I don’t!

Downloadable Content (DLC) has been a total game-changer this generation for consoles. From PC-like expansions, to map packs, we’ve seen just about every type of digital good sold either on Xbox Live Marketplace or the PSN Store. Under all the glitter and gold of really great DLC, is a very dark world. Something much worse than the nickel and dime DLC trick (I’m looking at you Guitar Hero and Rock Band), I speak of DLC that’s delivered on the game disc. Is this practice ever acceptable, or is this just another way to make gamers pay twice over for content they already own?

Everyone has their own opinion about what video games are the best that have ever graced a console. What makes this top ten list different and totally unique is that my opinion is, in fact, the correct opinion, whereas the opinions of the past are incorrect and undeniably inferior. Actually, to call it my “opinion” is in itself misleading, as it is no mere opinion, but solid, irrefutable fact. I have spent countless hours (actually, probably only an hour or two, to be fair) carefully selecting the ten best video games of all time in order to set the record straight. Read the full story

According to Variety, in which I sincerely hope this is an early April Fool’s hoax, Screen Gems have purchased the rights to Devil May Cry. Kyle Ward, the same guy who is working on the screenplay for the Kane & Lynch movie (yes, you read that correctly), is the one penning the DMC script. Aside from working on another script for a movie called Fiasco Heights, Ward hasn’t done anything else which makes me worry considerably. Read the full story

Marvel vs. Capcom is a game franchise so well known that all you have to do is merely mention its title and gamers around the globe will begin to tell stories of epic battles and who their favorite characters are. Of course, there are the never-ending discussions about which female character is the hottest (Morrigan FTW), or who is the best at the game, but none of that really matters. MvC 1 & 2 are iconic arcade games and, if you see the cabinets somewhere, you automatically gravitate towards them.
I’ve put many hours, and many quarters, into Marvel vs. Capcom 2. It is a game where I was instantly hooked, and I loved it so much that, when I was working at GameStop many years ago, I immediately grabbed a copy for the Dreamcast even though I didn’t own the console. I then went so far as to purchase the version that came out for Xbox because I was that big of a fan. Well, imagine how thrilled I was to hear that a third installment of the franchise would be coming in 2011.
It’s okay, go ahead, imagine me jumping for joy. I’m not going anywhere.
