I should have gone to bed earlier on Friday night. Having only had four hours of sleep, it’s becoming slightly difficult to keep pace on the Blogathon!
Each minute that passes, the number of passable ideas for blog posts dwindles in my mind. I may also stop making sense when I speak as a side effect of the not having much sleep.
I had a conversation earlier this evening with one of my mom’s cousins, who was born and raised in Iran. We were sitting in my mom’s office, working on a post, when he came in and sat down to chat with us.
Mom’s office used to be my bedroom, and some of my posessions still adorn its walls, such as my original cast Star Trek sketch. Looking at the sketch, he brought up that some of his earliest memories were of Star Trek. He went on to tell us a story about how, as a child, he and his family would watch Star Trek every Friday in Iran.
I asked if it was subtitled or dubbed, and he told me it was dubbed; they spoke Farsi flawlessly. Imagining it in fluent Farsi made me laugh a great deal. I generally don’t like dubbed series, preferring the original audio with subtitles, but I would love to watch Star Trek with a Farsi dub.
I have a friend named Farshad. Farshad is a very interesting individual, to say the least. He’s a great guy, no doubt, but he has a personality that is hard to forget, and easy to get a laugh from.
He has a lot of sayings that were slightly abrasive, such as how almost everything was “badass” (say it with EMPHASIS). Everything takes a dump on everything else, and everything is worth a “HAAYAH!”
He moved to Las Vegas a couple of years ago, so we don’t see him very often at all, but anytime we miss him, we just call something “badass”, and we feel like he’s with us again!
I’m taking over the blogging duties for a little while, and the first thing I want to jump back in with is a hilarious, and at times infuriating. Some of the pranks are harmless and funny, while others could cause injury or loss.
Overall, I guess I’d say it’s pretty funny. However, it is almost 1:30, so perhaps my sleep addled brain is partly to blame.
Since the party we are at is for us since we got married back in March, of course we got presents. We won’t be opening them here, so when we do tomorrow we will let you all know what we got!
It’s midnight. I honestly can’t believe that we have been blogging for 18 hours straight. I must say that this has been like nothing I’ve ever experienced.
My mind has been struggling for interesting things to blog about, and my poor eyes are tired from looking at a screen for so long today.
But you know what? It’s been worth it. It’s been so awesome that I can’t wait until the next Blogathon in 2010. Hell, maybe in 6 months we will do something like this again on our own just for shits and giggles.
Thank you readers for sharing this with us and being a part of something special.
Well, it’s about 11:30 and we are about to have this delicious cake. Can’t post a pic of it right now, but just believe me when I say that it will be delicious.
Chris’s Mom ordered it from this local French bakery named Le Roi, and she says it’s her favorite.
So many of you know that we are at a party tonight, held in our honor, at Chris’s Moms house. Sorry that we haven’t been blogging about the get together until now, but better late than never eh?
We arrived here a little bit late because I was working on the blog for 8:00, and Chris was working on the one for 8:30, but I swear the WordPress App for the iPhone has been saving us all evening when we can’t get to the laptop here.
As much as I would love to go into detail, I have to cut this short. I promise that when we get home, or later on tomorrow, I will talk more about it.
The Last Enchantment is the final book of The Merlin Trilogy, bring the life and deeds of Merlin the Enchanter to a satisfactory conclusion.
The Last Enchantment sees Arthur rise to the position of High King of Britain, with Merlin as his advisor and protector. The book also sees Merlin, in his later years, finally accept the love of a woman, Niniane, who becomes his apprentice, learning all of his arts and continuing the position of advisor, protector, and sorceror for King Arthur. Merlin’s story is left open at the end, as he bids farewell to Arthur, asking when his next visit will be. Merlin has completed his life’s work and is now content and at peace; a just reward for his lifetime of efforts and sacrifice.
Everyone grows up; this is how the world works. Just because we grow decrepit and old, however, does not mean we have to forsake the things that make us happy, childish though they may seem. This is the core concept of Marooners’ Rock; we geek out on the things of our past, present, and future. Society and cultural norms be damned!
