Every now and then a platform is graced with a game that pushes the boundaries of what people thought it possible of. Infinity Blade is that game for iOS. Developed by Chair Entertainment, the same group that gave us the critically acclaimed XBLA games Undertow and Shadow Complex, Infinity Blade makes use of Epic Games’ Unreal engine to bring what is sure to be a memorable gaming experience on par with their past efforts. Priced at $4.99 ($5.99 for iOS universal version) in the Apple App Store, Infinity Blade could get away with a price tag of $9.99, or conceivably more, with no hesitation. Read the full story

If you have an iPhone or an iPod Touch, this is the article for you. Several publishers and developers on the App Store have dropped prices on some very well known games. There doesn’t seem to be a reason for it, and there’s no indication of how long these massive price cuts will last, so if you see something you’ve been holding off on buying or something that just catches your eye, I recommend you act fast before the chance is gone. We’ve mentioned Sonic the Hedgehog a few times in passing on this site. To be honest, he’s a touchy subject. On the one hand, when a Sonic the Hedgehog game is good, it can be one of the best games you will ever play. On the other hand, when a Sonic the Hedgehog game is bad, it makes you wish you were playing E.T. on the Atari 2600 instead (for you young whipper-snappers that aren’t old enough to remember E.T. on the Atari, that’s a bad thing). Enter Sonic the Hedgehog 4, a return to the series’ roots. Read the full story

The paranormal exists around us at all times. Usually, the paranormal world does not interact directly with the normal world. Today, however, the unusual occurred, and a ghost ate my GOD DAMN COOKIE. Yeah, you heard me. A ghost. My cookie. Consumption. Luckily, I had the StopMotion Recorder app running on my iPhone 4, and I was able to capture this undeniable proof of paranormal interaction! If you remember, last week Chris wrote a review about a game called Fastar!, a quirky, fun, throwback to the epic NES RPG days. The minds behind Fastar!, and the App Store hit Blue Defense, are Cat in a Box Games. John Kooistra, the main cheese on the team, was kind enough to sit down with us for an interview.

I don’t know how, and I don’t know why, but right now, Civilization Revolution is free through the Apple iTunes App Store. Since I have no idea why the game has been so heavily discounted, I highly suggest you download it right this second if you want to take advantage of this amazing deal before it’s no more. Oh man, I need to get this game. OK… so, if you took any English or Literature classes, you will be familiar with the novel known as Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. No? Well, maybe you were sick that day. Anyways, some genius individual went and rewrote the book, and while everything is basically kept the same, they added zombies. I love zombies, and I’m sure when the zombie apocalypse comes, they will love me too, but let’s not get off topic.

The book was a huge success, spawning other parodies such as Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, and Jane Slayre. It really was only a matter of time until a video game adaptation was released. What surprises me the most is that it is in the form of an iPhone game rather than something that could be found on PlayStation Network or Xbox Live Arcade. Regardless, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies looks great on the iPhone from what I’ve seen. I haven’t actually downloaded the app yet, mainly because it’s not free and I don’t feel like spending $2.99 when that can go towards a gallon of milk or a loaf of bread, but that doesn’t mean I won’t try my best to get this.

For the iPhone and iPod Touch, Freeverse has created something really outstanding. Because there are tens of thousands of apps available in the iTunes store, it’s easy for things to pass under the radar. Hopefully that doesn’t happen with this. From the trailer I watched, the controls seemed nice, graphics and frame rate was really fluid, and who doesn’t enjoy kicking the shit out of zombies?

So, check out the trailer below, and if you have an iPhone or iPod Touch, download the game because if you don’t, then I will send **NSFW** this guy to your house. You’ve been warned.
