Oh yes, it’s Poker Night, and the feeling’s right…

First off, there’s nothing wrong with a little Kool and the Gang, and damn you, sir (or madam), for looking down on me.  That being said, I’m a fan of poker (I know, talk about a non-sequitur!).  My friends and I used to get together every weekend for massive games that would run into the wee hours of the morning, at which time we would go to the nearby 24-hour Denny’s and hang out until the sun came up.  THAT being said, I’m looking forward to Poker Night at The Inventory, coming this fall from Telltale Games.

We’ve played a few of Telltale’s games (as in games by Telltale), and have generally enjoyed the experiences they have provided.  I have a feeling that their upcoming title, Poker Night at The Inventory, will be the one I enjoy the most.  As I’ve mentioned above, I enjoy Poker.  What I did not mention is that I am a big fan of the humor of Team Fortress 2, Penny Arcade, Homestar Runner, and Sam & Max.  Coincidentally, each of these sources of humor provides one character for the poker table; Team Fortress 2′s Heavy, Penny Arcade’s Tycho, Homestar Runner’s Strong Bad, and Sam & Max’s Max will sit around the table and play the game.

Poker Night at The Inventory features fully voiced characters utilizing Telltale’s dynamic dialog system.  All the characters will talk trash, give unique tells, and react to the game dynamically as it is being played, providing a unique experience with each round played.

I can’t wait to hear my favorite characters trash talk me.

Poker Night at The Inventory comes out Fall 2010 on Steam, for $4.99, PC and Mac.

Oh, and for the Kool and the Gang fans in the audience:

This might just be one of the best things ever. At least in the top 10.

I am a HUGE poker fan. I really wish I could find more people to play with. The biggest problem is, I’m an even bigger gambling fan, and I tend to lose too much money.

I hate poker, and yet I’m totally down to play this.

About Marooners’ Rock

Everyone grows up; this is how the world works. Just because we grow decrepit and old, however, does not mean we have to forsake the things that make us happy, childish though they may seem. This is the core concept of Marooners’ Rock; we geek out on the things of our past, present, and future. Society and cultural norms be damned!
