EA Studio Showcase: The Sims 3

Today, EA held their Studio Showcase conference. Kicking things off was EA’s Head of the Play label, Rod Humble, to talk about new things for The Sims 3, and the future.

Coming soon is the latest expansion in The Sims 3 series: Late Night. In the Late Night expansion, you can have a late night job like a bartender, go downtown to party in night clubs, or become the toast of the town. You can even join a band, play in a dive bar, and woo the crowd. By joining a band, being the best mixologist out there, or local celebrity, you can earn fame. In the expansion, players will have access to new build tools, penthouse lofts, hot tubs, luxury cars, and a full-on Vampire Sim, complete with family bloodline.

Also, for the first time ever, The Sims is coming to console. Gamers who own PS3′s, Xbox 360′s, or Nintendo Wii’s can play and have a rich, new HD experience that will feature an integrated online exchange. Also, new to The Sims franchise, are Karma Powers. With Karma Powers, players can change the trajectory of a single Sim’s life, or on an entire town. It can be so powerful, that earthquakes can occur. How fun does that sound?

No release date is given for The Sims on console, but I know that I’m very excited!

About Marooners’ Rock

Everyone grows up; this is how the world works. Just because we grow decrepit and old, however, does not mean we have to forsake the things that make us happy, childish though they may seem. This is the core concept of Marooners’ Rock; we geek out on the things of our past, present, and future. Society and cultural norms be damned!
