" The only cool parts in City of Angels were the little red angel wing tattoos on Mia Kirshners back, Iggy Pop, Thuy Trang who was the original Yellow Ranger, and the appearance of Deftones "
Haha. So true & loving that you mentioned Thuy Trang being the original yellow power ranger.
I had a similar incident directly after i'de watch the 1st Crow when I was in 7th grade. Me and my best at the time had been watching his VHS of the crow everytime I went round his and it very quickly became my favourite film. Upon the 3rd time of watching it he said "the second ones way better, have you seen City of Angels?" and then proceeded to tell me cool things about (being 12 I believed him). But upon searching out screenshots of the sequel online at school I made up my mind that it was awful and didn't watch it. I rented the 3rd (boring, unlikeable and shit), I watched the premiere of The forth 'Wicked Prayer' and had high hopes due to Dennis Hopman and Edward Furlong... So shit it was kind of good!?
It took me 11years to see City of Angels.
The plot was balls awful, I cant actually remember a villain either. Nor can I remember a reason for why Vincent Perez was wearing what he was wearing as the crow (although he did look pretty good), at-least Brandon's crow had a reason for the trench coat and uber tight top.
Now they're making a remake of which I'm sure you've heard about.
The list of people they have thought of for the role are diabolical and would push me to a fan frenzied set break in/attack.
Mark Wallberg!
Channing Tatem (or however you spell that infuriating "actor's" name)!
Jason Statham (no! Not for the crow!)
They finally set on the lead guy from 'The Hangover' which I could have settled for just to see how he played it. But he's now pulled out.

To wrap things up. That friend of mine is no longer my friend and the question of "How could anyone like the 2nd over the first/best!?" can be answered like this.
Answer. They don't really like either film and Subconciously choose the second over the first because of the presence of Iggy Pop.
